Ask Sid is a coaching app for youth and high school football. Coaches use it to score a roster, build depth charts, plan for an opponent, and ask questions of an AI assistant. This policy explains what we collect when you use asksid.io and the Ask Sid app, how we use it, and the choices you have. "Ask Sid", "we", and "us" mean the team that operates the app.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details. Your email address, your name if you provide one, and the password you set. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and stored in a hashed form we cannot read.
  • Team details. Team name, level, league, division, city, and season dates.
  • Player information you enter. Names, jersey numbers, positions, height, weight, date of birth, years of experience, skill ratings, injury status, and drill or combine results.
  • Season information. Your schedule, opponents, game locations, scores, box scores, and scouting notes.
  • Messages you send. Questions you type into the Ask Sid assistant, and anything you email to us.

Information we collect automatically

  • Usage and device data. Pages and screens viewed, referring links, browser and device type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address.
  • Log data. Our hosting and database providers record requests, including IP addresses, so the service can be kept running and secure.
  • Cookies and local storage. We store your sign-in session and preferences such as your active team on your device, and we use Google Analytics cookies to measure how the site and app are used. You can clear or block these in your browser, though signing in requires the session storage.

How we use information

  • Run the app: score players, build depth charts, rank play fits, generate game plans, and answer your questions.
  • Look up a kickoff forecast for a game location you enter.
  • Send account email such as sign-in links, password resets, and service notices.
  • Answer support requests.
  • Understand which features get used so we can improve them.
  • Protect the service against abuse, fraud, and security incidents, and meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use player information for advertising.

The AI assistant

When you ask Sid a question, the question and the team context needed to answer it are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate a response. That context can include roster, skill ratings, depth chart, schedule, and game details, including player names. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, that information is used to produce the answer and is not used to train their models.

How information is shared

We share information with the service providers that make the app work:

  • Supabase for the database, authentication, and file storage.
  • Vercel for website and app hosting.
  • Anthropic for the model behind the Ask Sid assistant.
  • Resend for account and transactional email.
  • Google Analytics for usage measurement.
  • The National Weather Service and open geocoding services to turn a game location into a forecast.
  • YouTube only if you play the tour video on our home page. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play, and the video then loads from their privacy-enhanced domain.

We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will say so on this page.

Player information and children

Ask Sid accounts are for coaches and other adults. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 13 to create an account, and we do not collect information directly from players.

Coaches enter information about their players, many of whom are minors. If you enter player information, you confirm that you have the authority to do so and that you have any consent your league, school, or district requires. We use that information only to provide the service to that team, never to advertise and never to build profiles outside the app.

If you believe player information was entered without proper authorization, email hello@asksid.io and we will remove it.

Your choices

  • Review and edit. Team and player information can be changed or deleted inside the app at any time.
  • Close your account. Email hello@asksid.io and we will delete your account along with the teams, rosters, and season data it owns.
  • Turn off analytics. Use your browser's tracking protection or Google's opt-out browser add-on.
  • Email. Unsubscribe from non-essential email using the link in the message. Account and security email continues while your account is open.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your information, or to object to how it is processed. Email us and we will respond.

How long we keep information

We keep your information for as long as your account is open. When an account is deleted, its data is removed from our live systems and encrypted backups age out on our provider's normal schedule. We may keep a limited record of the deletion request itself, and anything the law requires us to retain.

Security

Traffic runs over HTTPS, our database provider encrypts data in transit and at rest, and access rules restrict team data to the coaches on that team. No service can promise perfect security, so use a strong, unique password and tell us right away if you think someone else has reached your account.

Where information is stored

Ask Sid is operated from the United States and our providers store and process information there. If you use the app from another country, you are sending your information to the United States, where privacy laws may differ from the ones at home.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when the app changes or the law requires it. The date at the top always reflects the current version. If a change is significant, we will note it here and, where appropriate, tell you by email.

Questions? Email hello@asksid.io and a person will answer.
